Game of Fitness: Who We Are.
Who We Are.
Welcome to Game of Fitness’ Monthly Blog!
This is where you can find content covering: exercise, mobility, diet, holistic health, transformation stories, what’s going on at GOF, and other informative topics to help you reach your health and wellness goals.
Let me introduce myself. I am Rachael Parks, the author of these blogs, as well as the CEO and co-founder of Game of Fitness. If I’m not coaching classes, you’ll find me working away in my office, possibly writing one of these blog posts for you. I’ll do my best to give you quality content that will help answer any health-related questions you might have.
So, Why Game of Fitness?
Game of Fitness came to fruition, after my partner Brad Parotto and myself, decided it was time to finally take the leap. Both Brad and I have wanted to open up our own gym, knowing that what we would create would be different than any other gym in the Saint Pete area. Having both worked in the fitness industry, we had our fair share of experiences in other gyms. I learned quickly what I liked, the atmosphere I was looking to create and most importantly what I didn’t want in my own gym. When we started discussing what type of experience we wanted for our members, three things really mattered to us:
INCLUSIVITY: We wanted every member of our gym to feel comfortable, welcomed, and a part of the GOF community from the moment they walk through our doors. As such, we prioritize socials in and outside of the gym as much as we possibly can.
FAMILY FRIENDLY: Having a gym that supports and encourages family over everything is what we strive for. We want to make it as easy for you as possible to get your workout in with your kiddos in tow.
Almost all of our community events are kid-friendly.
We have a designated room for your kiddies to play (psst…you can watch them through the plexiglass) while you get your sweat on.
Children ages 12-13 (under GOF discretion) can workout for free alongside their parent.
ACTING AS A CONNECTING HUB: We want to serve as a connecting hub for all things health and wellness. What that means is that, when you walk into GOF, we can help you with your fitness, weight-loss, mobility goals. But we also want to help you with every other aspect of your overall health which includes:
Your nutrition: offering you guidance, connecting you with a registered nutritionist, and/or our partnered meal-prep service to help you hit all of your nutrition goals.
Your recovery: connecting you with the best physical therapists, massage therapists, chiropractors that we know.
Your other hobbies: Supporting you at and connecting you with other events that you might be interested in outside of the gym.
With all of that said, we do our very best to continuously create this environment. And not to brag, but we think we’re doing a pretty good job at it. Our members are friends in and outside of the gym. Our community continues to grow and become stronger as we create more connections throughout the Saint Petersburg area.
The story behind the name Game of Fitness is a short and sweet one, but also one of our favorites. Brad and I were visiting his family in Chicago around the holidays last year. We had been throwing ideas at each other for weeks, trying to decide on a name but nothing felt right. That first night in Chicago, we were sitting around with his parents discussing ideas, and his mom had received a speciality Game of Thrones gift set which one of us made reference to. Jokingly, she said, “What about Game of FITNESS?!” We both looked at each other, and knew that was it. It felt right. We loved the Game of Thrones theme and have since adopted different class styles: Game of Conditioning, Game of Strength, Game of Stamina and Game of Will.
We are committed to growing this community and will work tirelessly at creating an experience that not only serves your fitness needs but your overall health and wellness. Our plan is to offer our members countless opportunities to improve themselves as well as an atmosphere that supports hard work, discipline, and consistency while also having fun and maybe cracking open a cold one after your workout.
